A Man Walks into the Pub: The Wi-Fi Experience

One of the biggest complaints IT leaders and teams will hear, and have to deal with, is poor user Wi-Fi experience; whether from internally by the team or by guests.

Now imagine this.

It’s Saturday afternoon and you’re going out shopping with your partner. You finally have a couple of minutes break from relentless shopping, and you walk into your local pub, try to connect to the Wi-Fi, intending to check the latest football results.

10 seconds pass…

Now 20 seconds…

You're now reaching a minute. And the frustration is building. The lines on your face are starting to show and your hands get clammy.

And you think to yourself, “it’s 2024 and I still can’t get a good Wi-Fi signal”.

Hands up - who has felt this experience?

We can all sympathise with the man in the pub and have probably all experienced similar problems. There’s a saying “a satisfied customer is the best business strategy for all” and the Wi-Fi experience is a big part of that, especially in industries like hospitality and retail, which are heavily reliant on customer satisfaction for repeat business.

So as an IT leader, how can you avoid your business’s customers from experiencing the same as this man in the pub?

With network monitoring systems. And not just any network monitoring systems but ones that are specific to your business’s needs and goals.

Network monitoring systems are a proactive approach to enabling IT teams to gain complete visibility into network components, application performance monitoring, and related IT infrastructure. And they allow IT teams to track the overall network health, identify red flags, and enhance network-path optimisation; keeping your network healthy and maximising uptime.
